Hull - Le Vieux Secteur Across the river from Parliament Hill and Ottawa, Hull is more than two centuries old and, until recently, existed independantly in the Outaouais Region of Quebec. It was incorporated as part of the city of Gatineau in the year 2002, along with three other adjacent towns, and the area it once encompassed is now referrred to as le vieux secteur Hull. Part of the National Capital Region, timber, pulp and paper are the industries that have helped sustain this community of 63,000 over the year. The main attraction here is the Canadian Museum of Civilization, which documents the history of Canada from prehistoric times to the modern era.
Near to the city is the wonderful Gatineau Park which is in the Laurentian Mountains. Many recreational facilities are also available. Visit the Moorside-Mackenzie King Estate, the former home of the three-time Prime Minister, or take a ride through the Gatineau Valley on the Hull-Chelsea-Wakefield Steam Train. |
